Russian rainmakers bring success: property owner

A Northern Territory landowner says a rainmaking venture on his Balaklava property, north of Adelaide, is having some success.

Viv Oldfield of Alice Springs has employed four Russian rainmakers in a bid to bring showers to his South Australian property.

Mr Oldfield says half an inch of rain has fallen on the land in the past few days.

He says the rainmakers have designed a machine that attracts moisture.

"It just works on the principle of like a mountain range," Mr Oldfied said.

"They believe that the Earth is a living organism and it generates negatives and positives and if they can put up a barrier it'll draw [moisture] because you get the instance where you can get rain on one side of a mountain range and not on the other and that's sort of very vaguely the principle they work on."
