Believe it or not, I actually did this for a long time when I was in high school. I woke up every day at 5:30 AM, therefore I taped every 4:50 AM Tropical Update when there was a tropical storm or hurricane or depression in the Atlantic, and then I taped the 2:50 PM Tropical Update so when I arrived at my house I could get the latest on the storm. It was something that I couldn't wait to turn on the computer or wait for the next tropical update. Right now that I have DSL then it's not a problem. Moreover, now that I'm in college I wake up at 7 AM.

I also recall getting up early (in the am) in the early 1990s to late 1990s (before the Net really caught on, and my work for the Weather Services started) and catching tropical updates, and other hurricane related weather bits. I also kicked myself if I missed a data point for my track maps back then, 'cause they were not archived on the net like today
