Well Arlene did form earlier than this system, but that was because last year was a big blow up that barley happens.

Memories of Arlene. Looks like Alberto is on the way. The wild ride has begun.

Something is telling that Alberto might be the first A hurricane to hit the U.S in a long time. Any thoughts?

Probably not if it takes an eastern route. Shear will be higher toward FL than if in the central Gulf.

The most famous A-named landfalling hurricane was Audrey (for June...Andrew was obviously it for all time). She came ashore the TX/LA border as a Category 4! In JUNE! Could you imagine the media coverage if the same happened today?

First we were talking about blob, then TD, later a TS, and now someone is saying hurricane. Hurricane, I hope not!

Anyway is there a chance recon could go into it earlier than plan?

Regarding recon... unfortunately I won't be able to do any recon information on this system because I'm still in tropical school here in Mississippi. (Wednesday's graduation day!)

However, remember to check out S2K's recon page at http://tropicalupdates.nhcwx.com/recon.htm

Also... check out the recon decoder for Excel that I created and used last season. The links for it are located at the bottom of the aforementioned recon page.

"Shear will be higher toward Fl than if in the central gulf"

Projections now take it thru the Yucatan Channel so it looks like this one has a chance to reach hurricane status
