Now That Claudette's in the GOM...

Shouldn't she begin to strengthen? She's looking worse, not better.

Still somewhat influenced by the Yucatan. Land interaction, as we all know, will not allow strengthening.

Just a matter of time. As Andrew pointed out, the YP isn't helping any.

As it moves away from the YP, it will strengthen...just give it time. ;)

Good golly, are you guys getting some bands from Claudette there in Florida? I know it can't be that coldfront because it is approaching MS now.

There's also some cyclonic shearing, being created by an upper level trough that has been ahead of Claudette all the way from the central Caribbean.

There were overhead thunderstorms here as well. A narrow band didn't move too much during the early to mid afternoon hours.

There was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning out for Marion county until 5:30 PM ET. The activity was located 20 to 25 miles to my north.

There were also warnings out for Clay county, to the north of Marion county, north of Putnam county and two warnings for Manatee county (in the Ruskin-Tampa Bay Area NWS zone).
