Season Cancel? Switch Has Yet to Turn On

#1 Postby gatorcane » Wed Aug 29, 2007 8:56 pm

Ok I have to open up this thread (sorry all). I still think we are going to see something but all global models are not showing any significant cyclone genesis for two weeks? That is even worse than 2006. The models think nothing is on the horizon folks....at least nothing to be worried about...unbelievable as we are approaching the Labor Day weekend.

There is something missing this season it seems. I am not ready to call it off yet (I need about 2-3 more weeks to become more sure) but I think some may want to throw the towel in now.

Just remember those CONUS fronts start dropping down in about 2 weeks.......and the leaves start changing across the CONUS pretty soon also....each passing day after mid September, CV storms have a more likelyhood of recurving and we begin looking at the Caribbean and GOM

Fall is almost here.....maybe get out the halloween decorations and put away the hurricane shutters? :D

Now watch something develop in the next couple of days out of nowhere and threaten the CONUS... :grr:

How can one call a season dead when we are not to the halfway point?

I am not saying its over but I want to open the topic to see if anybody is bold enough to say it is over....(again I am still not bold enough but someone may be. I'd like to hear his/her thoughts). That is why I phrased the topic as a question. :D

I think the Eastern Atlantic is marginal for development. Their is alot of dry air out there. I know conditions can change very quickly. Last year we had 9 storms, so far in 2007 we have five. I posted a while back that I think we'll end up with ten. It has to happen soon otherwise its a 2006 do over. I do think the missing ingredient is dry air not SAL from the Azores high and a little cooler conditions in the East Atlantic. I have been wiscasting for a tropical depression or storm to move across Lake O to end our drought. Will see.

I think we will finish with 13 storms. 4 in September, 3 in October, 1 in November.

Wilma. October 24, 2005.

The memory is crystal clear in my mind.

I won't eat the canned goods, use those spare batteries and otherwise raid my hurricane supplies until I'm sure the 2007 season is over.

I also think more people think the season is dead than want to admit because they will get chewed up spit out and frowned upon on this board. At least Gatorcane has the gusts to post what he feels. By Sept 15th I'll probably feel the same if nothing pops soon.

Yes good point I couldn't agree with you more. October can be a busy time for us here in South Florida.....

It's not dead. There's plenty more energy stored up in the Tropics, ready to be tapped. I'm willing to bet at least 8-9 more storms before the Season ends. 5 in Sept, 3 in Oct, maybe 1 more in Nov.

Just admit it people. This season is busting and it is busting
bad. Other than dean, we've had about nothing!!!
Andrea and Barry were barely tropical
chantal was really weak 60 mph
dean was a monster thats the only big one
erin cause deadly floods but was a weak 40 mph ts
no felix, no gabrielle, no nothing!! No good surf!
The surf Sucks this year im not even going to the beach.
I mean no rain either it's hot and it sucks.

94 and 95 aren't doing too hot.

Go Ahead. Rip my head off for saying this but I think
2007 is gonna bust aside from dean.

Thank you...look people, its september almost
and look how everything is dying. Let's be realistic.
We can't look at a cold cup of coffee and say boy that is
the warmest coffee ive ever had.
This season is busting. 1930s following 1933 did the same thing.
It's all cycles.

This just Sucks. My Whole Weather hobby has been eaten! :grr:

I think the eastern atlantic is all but dead for the season. Maybe 1 more sneaky system like Dean was, but other than that season is all but over I think out there.

Posts like this make me sad. They also make me angry.

For the love of God, a lull in late August does not mean the season is dead! Look at 1961, 1985, and 2000!

think about it we've really only had one system that was
of real intensity all the others were tropical storms- barely!
I know a lot more people think that this season is a bust.
Go ahead and express your feelings...
I just wish 95L would become a tropical storm cross
the state and give me good rain.
Or why can't a low form just off the FL west coast
become a tropical storm and give me some action!!!
One tropical storm would make me soo happy!!!

Sad and Angry? At the evidence that I have provided of dean being the only thing above
a weak tropical storm? I am being realistic and stating the facts. Yes there are some years
where the activity picks up late.

Don't get angry at me. Just try to understand my point of view on this issue.
Even if you disagree no need for anger at me! Can't we be nice?
