Congrats to surviving ike. You may have material damage but you're here with us and that's what's important.

Checking in from my sons. Wow what a night!! We are fine, dead tired and happy to have a son who has power, which we don't. Thanks to all for their concern and prayers.

Hi I evacuated from Clear Lake to downtown Houston by Minute Maid Park. Lots of trees on side walk pushed over here. My son-in-law drove back to Clear lake this afternoon to check on his house and the movie theater where he works. No broken windows or flood damage. Lots of broken tree limbs and no power.

Posting from Jackson, MS where my son and I evacuated to. Reports from home as well as live stream from our local tv station certainly looked bleak at best. OEP is still asking us to stay out due to extreme flooding not seen in SW Louisiana in many decades.........................flooding is worse than it was in Rita for the city although wind damage was not as severe. I've gotten reports on my home and I'm thrilled that aside from outside structures such as my gazebo, trellis, fence, mail box, Kabota tractor and such being destroyed, THE HOUSE IS STILL FINE for the most part(minor water pushed through doorways). I'm really tired and I can't wait to sleep in my own bed but for now I'm just very thankful for all of your prayers and support.

Southwest Houston checking in:

We're hot and uncomfortable, but safe.

It was a horrible horrible storm. I don't care what the experts say. I went through Alicia and Ike seemed much much worse.

Lots of debris to clean up and god knows how long we will be without power. We have one extension cord coming from a neighbors house with a generator, It's NOT enough.

We are fine. b

Howdy all from Baytown. Man what a storm! the storm surge got within 2 blocks of my house, but the house is still about 8 feet above the street. I have taken many pictures. I'll post them in a day or 3. we got our power back about 8pm, but just got the cable modem to connect a while ago. the marina here in baytown floated off the poles, and it boats and all are stuck under the business 146 bridge (goose creek) not the high baytown - laporte bridge.

Glad you are OK. I am curious about Houston. My DH has an afternoon appointment at the medical center. I can just imagine the boats under the Goose Creek bridge. What a mess.

Glad to see everyone trickling in and that you are safe.

HOME SWEEEEEEET HOME!

We got back this evening and electricity has been intermittent but I'm thankful for every minute it is on. As reported, just outside structures and equipment damaged but my home itself has no damage. The mosquitoes are just the worst.

Prayers ongoing for everyone here in Ikes path.

We now should expand this to include those in inland states...

I am now safe and accounted for. Cincinnati took a direct hit from hurricane force wind gusts, and I have NO power at home as of 8 this morning. No clue if when I go home around noon, it will be restored, or am I up the creek with no paddle. Duke Energy says over 800k people without power at one point or another last night...down to the 500-600,000 range now.

Dark and unairconditioned at home, and no interweb, but office has electricity, coffee and my computer works.

Missed work Thursday and Friday, something of a backlog now...

Safe in Far NW Harris County. Significant Roof damage through out the area. Assisting neighbors with newborns/elderly with temp repairs to roofs and fallen sheetrock.

There was a member who said that she and her family were riding it out in Dickinson and that she was pretty scared. They didn't get to evacuate because of late evac order for her town and bad traffic.

Anyone remember who that was and if they checked in? I don't know them, but her post about staying is haunting me.

Soney, i did a search and that was Galvestongirl. She sent me her check-in info and i called and the phone rang a few times and i got "the wireless customer you are calling is not available". I'll keep trying back.
