Has anyone heard from Gretchen in the Turks? I can't remember her user ID exactly but think it was greels or something like that?

I haven't heard from Gretchen (greels) directly since the storm but we were PMing just before. I know that she got my last PM which was shortly after the storm passed over them but there was no reply. By now, I hope they are on their way back to the States. They were scheduled to move on the 14th but, of course, that could have changed.

Lynn

PS. Still no word from galvestongirl?

(Hugs) and prayers to all of you in Ike's path.
I can't even imagine going thru what you have.
Ike hit my area north of Pittsburgh with 79mph winds. My power was off for 18 hours and tree limbs and trees were everywhere - along with my porch furniture.

Now this was only several hours of winds here - no biggie compared to what you guys have gone thru. I send all of you down south my love and prayers. You are very brave people.

Checking in from NW Houston here. One of my big trees fell on my power line but no other damage. The storm was wicked and loooong in my location. No power yet. Lots of folks without power. Land lines don't work. Cell phone service spotty.

I'm at a mall with wifi. Any place with power becomes instantly popular. I'm glad that it's over and anxious to get back to normal.

I'm most concerned about folks that didn't evacuate along the area that got the storm surge.

Thanks to all who provided info and support through all of this.

I'm safe here in the Houston Medical Center and WITH POWER!!!! The Apt building next to mine has no power so I am really blessed.

My apartment faired well, however my moms house wasn't so lucky. Her fence was completely destroyed and damage to to the rook allowed so much water to seep in and saturate the ceiling. We are not sure if the ceiling will cave in. Water has leaked unto the carpet also. Lots of trees down and roof damage all over Houston.

But again I'm blessed. I have been hosting about 12 family members and friends who have no power in my small 2 bedroom apartment.

Glad to see members posting to let us know status. I am in San Antonio safe at my mothers with the rest of my family. It's crowded but we have AC and water. Will not return to Beaumont until I have power and decent water.

Hi greg! See you guys soon. Thanks to all here for the updates and news and the tracking and info before during and after. I have a laptop and was able to sneak down the street to see what was happening on someone's connection wirelessly. All news ended the day after the storm locally so we have not been able to hear much except in text messages. Cable was installed here so now we can see all the damage and horror. So thankful to be watching storm 2 K and KNOW when to get out by listening to our mets.

It's not over yet but we will persevere.

I was thinking about here as well last week. Her last post was on the 6th and said this....
Airport will be closing at 12 noon today.

Hot muggy day here...the calm before the storm...

Gretchen

Hope to hear from her soon as well.

Hello everyone...

Gretchen here, reporting that we are both safe.

Left our villa before IKE hit and retreated to the staff housing at one of the 5 star resorts located on Provo. We stayed in a second floor corner unit of the building, facing the ocean. We hunkered down with the Head of Staff and several of his employees, one of which was a private chef for the villas at Amanyara. I almost felt guilty, given the fact that this lad cooked meals for us during the storm.

Once IKE hit, the winds were simply howling. It felt as if we were trapped beneath the jet engine of a plane, the noise was so loud. Terrified would put it mildly how we both felt.

Villa suffered minor damage to the roof and lost rain gutters. Without power, internet and cable.

Now in Florida for two weeks to relax and just recoup.

Thaks for all your well wishes and I will write more later.

Minor damage to the house but nothing that can't be fixed. I pray that everyone else is safe and sound.

Borrowing internet service quickly. We're battered in west Houston - Bear Creek. Ike nailed us pretty good, but it was the next morning's storms that killed us. A little water in our house but nothing to cry about with other homes having over 12". We have no PODs in this unincorporated area of Houston. No representatives speaking for us. No FEMA support. No county support. No official support at all. I am so proud of all our neighbors. We are all watching out for one another and using a bartering system to keep ice and food going. I got power last night but it's only a tiny part of our subdivision. I see NO major network coverage of what has happened here and I am appalled.
