I heard on WWL radio that the body was found in a house being torn down. Apparently there remains many houses in the lower ninth ward that some how escaped being searched. Would not be surprised if a few more bodies are found.....MGC

This is unacceptable to me. They should have searched all of them.

To be honest, I think they'll probably be finding bodies for years.

The other day in my Hurricanes class at FIU Dr. Willoughby was talking about Camille and commenting that many of the victims of Katrina in Mississippi were in someway victims of Camille because most people whose houses survived Camille died believing the house would also survive Katrina, and that was not the reality.

That's just an example how a hurricane from the past can still put your life in danger by giving you too much confidence. The same could happen to those in South Florida who survived Andrew. A similar hurricane may come and they will probably stay in their houses that survived Andrew but may not survive its cousin.

Furthermore, something even more tragic. After the clean up of Ground Zero everyone though that all human remains were recovered, and not long ago a news broke out that they found human remains in Ground Zero after all the clean up efforts. As you may understand, those that lost a family member in the event are really upset.

Thats sad, 1,834 now.

Sadly, it probably won't be the last, how many people are still missing?

After this year's lackluster hurricane season, apathy will be the main problem next season..

SFl (Palm Beach, Broward, Dade and Monroe ) nets 200 new residents a day..
How many of those will heed the warnings next season??

You just hit the nail on the head. I was just visiting another forum, not weather related, and a mention was made of the two reports released this week that indicated a higher than normal hurricane season in 2007. You should have seen the following 17 responses argueing that these predictions are always wrong and that 2006 was given the same forcast and so on. They just flat out refuse to believe that since 2006 year was mild that anything like 2004/2005 will ever happen again.
