My Humberto Slideshow

#1 Postby KLP124 » Thu Sep 13, 2007 7:11 pm

Things got pretty bad here around 2:30 a.m. I had no idea Humberto had ramped up to Hurricane status, but you could tell it wasn't a TS by the wind. We lost power around 3 a.m. and it just got turned back on around 6 p.m. We were very fortunate. It looks as if Humberto might have taken out quite a few of the trees Rita left behind. We drove to Winnie and things didn't look bad there. They had electricity, as did part of our town. However, our little neighborhood looked bad. On our street alone (10 houses long) there were 3 big trees completely uprooted, numerous carports strewn about, and many, many branches scattered about. Things were pretty flooded this morning but have drained well. All in all it was a very interesting experience. :)

I guess all the trees are down because the ground was so saturated. This was NOT what we were expecting to see when we woke up! As I type this I'm listening to the hum of a generator next door. The tree got their weather head. I didn't think I'd be hearing that for a while! No more hurricanes here!
