Well - that's what VB and I were kind of discussing - it's hard for Houston/Galvestonians to get together because we are all so far apart from each other. I said we could probably split the Hou/Galv area into 5 or 6 different areas with EACH having their own get-together!!

I am still planning/hoping to go to the conference, but as for a get-together, I also think a weekend would be best. Seeing as the conference is on a Tuesday and not over until 9pm, how many people are going to be able to stay out and hang out until late on a weeknight, particularly those of us who have to drive home out of town afterwards? I don't think I can swing spending the night on a Tuesday, and it would be so late after doing anything, I would want to. And that's assuming any of y'all could even stay out to do something that late on a weeknight.

At this point it appears to me that there is no interest in getting together to eat after the conference, which I can understand since it lasts till 9. Of course we could leave early, but there are usually some good workshops to attend too. Last time I went to the conference I met Jim Franklin(?)from NHC, Dr. Neal Frank, and some other local OCM's.

Perhaps we need to plan a seperate party time like our NO counterparts.
Let's hear what everyone thinks.

So where exactly are we going to meet? And at what time? I'll be there.

I am planning on coming to the conference unless work interferes. I'm not sure who else is coming anymore????

I would really like to make it. I might try. However, it's coming up on the end of our fiscal year and we have to get all of our last-minute orders in by the first week of June. Since I do a lot of our ordering - I may be staying late for the week ahead. And then I'm going to Miami for the first weekend in June. And then of course - I live over 20 miles from downtown now. :-/

So basically - I'm not sure if I'm going to make it.

Gettng together on a weekend sounds so much better all-around. Come on - let's not let those Cajuns have all the fun! :-)

I don't think it's that 9 is too late. It's just that the conference lasts until 9 and by that time, it'd be hard to get any real celebrating and visiting started. That is, for those who have to work the next day. It would be easier to do it when everyone can talk (and party?) for the largest part of the get-together.

The Texas get-together is on Tuesday, the 30th, during a hurricane conference. :)

I will be there at the conference. I might be running late, leaving from work.

I'll be up for a second get-together sometime as well. When the conference is over, I'll probably head home since it's a weeknight.

My attendance has now become quite iffy due to possible family obligations I was not aware of.
I do like the idea of meeting next to Starbucks (Located on level 2 next to Explore Houston) before the general session begins at 5:20. We can also pick another time to meet or send a runner to gather stragglers. (Thanks AFM!!) I am going to do my best to make it.

Well one of my "problems" has gone away, so I may be there after all. I figure meeting by the Starbucks is the best way to go.
