Okay.... perhaps a bit of a light-hearted aside; but I just couldn't pass that one up... You need to be on the Classic TV or Oldies threads in Games, Coriolis.

Good idea! :) It should make for more quality posts, as opposed for more quantity posts. I now don't feel pressured at having to make a certain number of posts per day to be considered a reasonable member, mostly because I don't have a lot of time.

This is a bittersweet thing for me. I've tried to read more and post less recently [as sunny said in an earlier post] - sometimes I just don't have the knowledge to participate in the first place. On the other hand, the number itself was still something nice to see. For me, I wasn't competing against anyone else. I was just excited when I reached X number of posts. It was exciting to see!

Nevertheless, I support this decision 100%. I can think of several users off the top of my head that needed this policy to be changed to cut down on their excessive, pointless posting.

OK I just thought of something. Perhaps it would be all right if any given user can see their OWN number of posts, perhaps viewable in their profile? I think that would avoid the disruption we had before with excessive posts, and allow any given user to know how many posts he or she has, for their own personal satisfaction.

Just a thought from the chili bowl.

Exactly Kathy. I do not understand the preoccupation with post counts anyway. Many of our members that do not post frequently make meaningful informative posts.

IMO it would take someone with no life to make duplicate posts just to have a high post count.
