S2K Outage

#1 Postby mf_dolphin » Tue Jan 22, 2008 8:49 pm

Sorry for the outage folks! Our domain name was registered until 2009 but somehow our registrar had set the domain to expire on Jan 21st 2008. It took a few choice words and a couple of hours on hold but we're fixed. It may take up to 24 hours for all of the ISP's to catch up but it will happen. Sorry again!

Dang, Marshall. They give us a credit? (ha, right?)

No need to apologize... it's not your fault! Thanks for getting it taken care of.

Btw, I got in with the regular link after doing the cmd thing. I use Roadrunner.

It's finally working again for me. There was no one in the chat rooms either, and there was only "off-topic" chat.

I was back in for awhile and then once again started getting the dreaded page again for renewal. I am back again though. Do you all ever check your myspace page? Can you post updates there if something were to happen again?

There's almost always someone in the chatroom... and even if nobody was there talking, a bot stays there to keep the room open. If you didn't even see it, you were probably on a different server. It's been pretty active in there.

CajunMama posted the IP address in the Comments section yesterday evening. When I got home last night, I sent out a Bulletin and posted a blog with the IP address and all of the other information. For those who aren't a Storm2k MySpace friend, please add us. You'll get updates if something like this happens again.

I was on during Monday night at least. I checked once or twice on Tuesday night. There was only the usual bots and no one was talking. Is it called "off topic" or is it something else?

This happens very seldom and timing is everything. Thanks for the hard work keeping S2K going. I am sure you had a few choice word for me. They are lucky this did not happen during the 2005 hurricane season. Thanks again.
