That is what I'm not talking, D5. I'm looking for a website that teaches me how to measure a rain gauge in inches correctly.

Just like any regular graduated cylinder. I'm sure the NWS might have something on reading an old styled rain gauge somewhere (meaning a cylinder placed out to catch rainfall with a scale beside it, versus a digital rain gauge).

Granted, yours may not be like that, but you get the point. My grandmother has a glass tube with a scale beside it that goes up to 6 inches on her back deck (actual rain gauge, not home made), and you would read it the same way...the only difference might be the scale, so make sure you know how your scale is set up.

Rain gauge is measured in inches or centimeters. You can use anything to measure rain, preferably a straight end container like a bucket.

How is it measured like that?

Is it that many lines exactly? Or could it be like this:

___ 0

- 0.05

_ 0.10

- 0.15

_ 0.20

- 0.25

_ 0.30

and so on, big mark every tenth of an inch, with the smaller marks every 5 hunderds of an inch?
