Tprcp vs. Cprcp

#1 Postby BigB0882 » Fri Jan 28, 2011 2:19 am

Can someone explain the difference between the Tprcp column and the Cprcp column at this link:

http://68.226.77.253/text/1DegGFS/GFS_Kbtr.txt

I have always looked at the Tprcp as what the GFS is predicting for us to get in terms of QPF but I don't usually see anything in the Cprcp column, however I do see a bit on here and don't know what to make of it. Why does it sometimes have amounts in both but other times only in the T and never in the C? I don't think I've ever seen amounts in the C but not the T.

Thanks.

Tprcp is total precipitation, Cprcp is convective precipitation
