I wonder if there are some data available for largest hurricanes by energy released (not mb, winds, etc.).

I'm assuming by that then, you are referring to ACE. I'm sure someone around here has a link to that.

If you mean ACE (Accumulated Cyclone Energy), then the top 5 Atlantic storms are:
1. Hurricane San Ciricao, 1899. ACE: 73.6
2. Hurricane Ivan, 2004. ACE: 70.4
3. Hurricane Donna, 1960. ACE: 64.6
4. Hurricane Isabel, 2003. ACE: 63.28
5. Great Charleston Hurricane, 1893. ACE: 65.3

If we go by ACE
Hurricane Ioke, 2006 ACE: 82
Hurricane John, 1994 ACE: 70.64
