Solar Panels during an event of a storm

#1 Postby stormtrooper » Tue May 17, 2016 11:15 am

Are solar panels any way helpful during an event of a storm? Or are they just good during "sunlight" and lowering your energy bill?

Solar panels only generate power when there is enough light, but I'm not sure that's the question. If they aren't blown off the roof perhaps they would be usable when no other power is available, is that the question? You would also need some sort of battery storage to be able to use the generated power, I don't think most devices can use the power directly from the solar cells unless it's something simple, like a flashlight or perhaps a heater.
