just saying....that midlevel low off Galveston is deeper than 99L and it doesn't have an invest tag....LMAO...99L will be inland by tomorrow.

maybe the plane should turn around...

Likely associated with the front--ASCAT showed a closed low but the northerly winds were in a fairly small area near and under the convection.
I just realized that the recon is still flying at around 15k feet so those winds are at the mid levels, the plane has not descended yet.
I see them looping around a few times, is they likely about to descend there?

No rain no wind here but some of the most ominous clouds I've seen all year just off to the west.

Looks like they're headed towards the possible low center now. This'll be the fourth system to get up into the NE Gulf this year (the other three being Erika's remnants and two almost-depressions) so let's see if we can actually get a classified system out of this one.
That being said I think the low near Texas may be interfering with the inflow.

I wonder where the 30 knots are coming from...
From earlier ASCAT, east of the vorticity.
Ah okay, thanks. Let's see if those winds can be confirmed by recon.

We have quite a few offshore obs in the area, none of which is reporting anything NEAR 30 kts. I haven't seen any 20kt winds yet. No LLC = no TD = development chances near zero, as it will be inland tomorrow morning.

A naked swirl and devoid of convection. Last I checked nowhere near the pressure falls.ROCK wrote:just saying....that midlevel low off Galveston is deeper than 99L and it doesn't have an invest tag....LMAO...99L will be inland by tomorrow.

hate to disagree with a met but some buoys showing 25 kts winds and over 30 in gusts.wxman57 wrote:We have quite a few offshore obs in the area, none of which is reporting anything NEAR 30 kts. I agree about the higher winds but still no defined LLC found.

Yes, it is dispersed. Can it tighten up within 36 hours? I've seen it.before in this area. Probably less than 50 percent chance but fun to watch none the less. I haven't seen wxman57 break out bones yet, is he tettering?,lol. Btw, this is only my opinion and I most likely don't know what the heck im talking about so take it with a grain of salt. That's my disclaimer.

There may be too much interaction with the Texas low at this point, the low clouds which were trying to wrap around earlier seem like they're all being pushed towards the east now.
