Invest 97B

#1 Postby Alyono » Mon Aug 15, 2016 4:04 pm

Another disturbance forms during the "off season"

May see some limited development before it moves inland. SSD has a T 1.0 for this

Looks almost classifiable if the center is where I think it is.

Only from wiki but along the lines of what i have always come to believe
.
The North Indian Ocean cyclone season has no official bounds, but cyclones tend to form between April and December, with the peak from May to November. These dates conventionally delimit the period of each year when most tropical cyclones form in the northern Indian Ocean.

Yep, looks to be another system like 96B that is hanging out just north of the Tropical Easterly Jet. The developing band to the west of the system is looking pretty good.

SSD has a 2.0 on this system

Yet JT and IMD pretend it does not exist...

IMD called it a deep depression as it was making landfall

This was another one that had it had 24 more hours, we would have had a major disaster as it really became better organized at landfall. This is twice in 2 weeks that we have narrowly escaped something catastrophic
