This is ominiously similiar to Katrina in many ways, forming innocently in the Bahamas, alittle north of Katrina.

why would she have to drift onshore Fl it could easily stay offshore florida and make landfall further north in GA or southern SC but the NHC has been good this year so i would prepare for this if i was in northern florida and southern GA.

At least, LA or MS is not in the cone. I would sure hate for anything to come this way. It would be really bad news.

My initial feeling is it turns westward and comes in around Daytona Beach, maybe Cape Canaveral as a hurricane... probably a Cat 1, but you never know.

Joe B just put it on paper. TD16 will mill around to Sat then move into the gulf.

All I know is that I have to order food for 20 people by tomorrow and the party looks like it may have an uninvited guest if we are in that NE quadrant. However, I would prefer that over a turn into the gulf.

How will it get there, jump over FL? No landfall predictions?
Just getting a hurricane local statement on TWC, prepare now etc.

Center - redeveloping

#97 Postby stormernie » Tue Sep 06, 2005 12:14 pm

In looking at the long range radar loops out of Miami and Melbourne it seems that a new center may or has develop north of Grand Bahama and east of Fort Pierce. Recon planes are on the way there and this should be verify as far as a true center later today.

Regardless it looks stationary and I don't see any real movement for at 24-48 hours.

This is a weaker system lower in the atmosphere and the lower level winds are pushing it.

As this thing grows in strength it will be pushed by the upper level winds. I think the question (blob of uncertainty) is that if and when it gets stronger it will be picked up by the upper level winds.

Is that a correct assumption Prof. Mets.?
