It looks to have formed a deep CDO. Given time Alpha could become a hurricane. But he will not get that time.

Its possible, at least where it shows it strengthening as it moves up the east coast. I don't see that as the probable source for any strengthening before it hits FL though.

If the bams verify that would be an odd track. I wonder if it would survive the circle? Things that make you go hummmm.

If Alpha were ever retired (not this one) I suggest Alfalpha as a replacement, followed by Buckwheat and maybe eventually Spanky.

Looks like Image is going to have a very tough time making it over Hispaniola.

It had a pretty good CDO going at 0125 UTC:

Compare that to 0445 UTC, with the circulation starting to cross the southern coast of the Dominican Republic:

Good morning everyone...

Quiet weather here this morning on the island of Provo.

We will wait to see what Alpha brings us in terms of weather after crossing Hispaniola.

She doesn't look quite as organized this morning as she did last night, in the above image. She does seem to have grown in her convection spread though. Once she clears land again she may reorganize.

Good call, O Town. The NHC (Avila) has changed the forecast to indicate a return to TS strength after he hits the water again.

Doesn't matter as she is forecast to become Wilma's personal cabana boy in about 48 hours

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS REMAIN TO NEAR 35 MPH...55 KM/HR...WITH
HIGHER GUSTS. THIS WINDS ARE OCCURRING MAINLY OVER WATER TO THE
NORTH AND EAST OF THE CENTER. THERE IS A CHANCE THAT ALFA COULD
REGAIN TROPICAL STORM STRENGTH WHEN THE CENTER MOVES BACK OVER
WATER.

For just a second Avila forgot he was writing in English and not Spanish!
