I am eating some crow but I agree with Hyperstorm about this system being a major cane IF all conditions are right.

The

If this forecast holds true and this system gets in the gulf, next week somebody is going to be in trouble.

God forbid! It also looks like it could become a relatively large storm. Again, this is if all conditions are met as they are forecasted to and nothing like a turn toward the SW into the Yucatan (Isidore) and entrainment of dry air (Lili) occurs...

I mean we can be dealing with a cat 3 or high because waters are very warm in the gulf. This could be another Lili once it gets in the gulf it rapidly intensify.

I can't see it becoming a major hurricane, but why would you say it could be a "historic" storm? Any particular special about it?

Wow that forecast path is alarming for the gulf coast. Adding to the fact that we could have a tiny TD reforming in the gulf right now it will be a very busy week around here!

SHIPS brings this to 105 mph(Strong Category 2!) on Saturday. Expect the intensity to be raised gradually on the successive advisories. This is EXTREMELY serious if the track verifies!!!!

Wouldn't the gulf waters be cooled slightly by TD2 like Lili's waters were cooled by Isadore?

The system is expected to remain in a VERY favorable environment throughout the forecast period. We're not talking here about just a "favorable" environment, we're talking business here. Outflow right now is moving at ridiculously fast speeds ahead of the system which enhances chances of development. It also a very LARGE system and IF it moves into the GULF, even as a tropical storm, conditions in the GULF with the water temperatures could cause this to explode.

Now, why did I say possibly historic? Because anything that enters the GULF and strengthens to a potentially major hurricane and strikes land, becomes historic...

Issy was a much bigger and powerful storm. I think it took much more heast from the Gulf than the former TD2 will

The Gulf is so warm right now I think it could support another system. TD 2 will be out of the Gulf in 3 days Max....Td 3 will be in their in 5 days.
