Although it's still named 7W, this storm looks to be getting better organized by the minute and the next name to be used is "Conson". "Conson" is a Vietnamese name and is a picturesque place in Haihung province, consists of mountains, pine forest, streams, temples, pagoda ... and many historical places. 7W might become a typhoon tonight or tomorrow morning.

Tropics quiet except near the Philippines with Conson
Another update on the tropics on this manic Monday reveals very little tropical development to speak of in the Atlantic Basin and the eastern Pacific, but something of note in the west Pacific.
Let's start with Tropical Storm 07W Conson just west of the Philippines, which continues to intensify this morning. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph with higher gusts. Further strengthening is indicated and Conson is expected to become a typhoon as it closes in on the east coast of the island of Taiwan over the next few days.
Meanwhile all is quiet in the Atlantic Basin and eastern Pacific with no tropical development expected in the near term. There are a few blobs of deep convection over the eastern Pacific, which will be monitored for any signs of tropical formation. However nothing is immient at this time. Blas would be the next named storm should something such as a tropical storm develop out there.
In the Atlantic basin, upper level winds remain strong throughout the Atlantic basin. A few areas of thunderstorms, one in the southwestern Caribbean, the other just east of the Leeward Islands. While upper level winds remain strong aloft, surface and low level winds are mainly coming from the east. Shear and strong wind aloft precludes any tropical development of any kind anytime soon in the Atlantic Basin. The Gulf Of Mexico is quiet at this time.

CONSON DEVELOPING AN EYE
As you can see in the image below Typhoon Conson is developing an eye, which tells us that the system is intensifying. I'm predicting a Cat. 2 typhoon impacting or going near Taiwan.

Typhoon lashes Taiwan
TYPHOON Conson lashed Taiwan's southern tip early Wednesday, forcing authorities to cancel domestic flights and trains as the storm whirled its way up the island's eastern coast.
The storm grew slightly stronger overnight and was packing winds of 120km/h as it blew in from the Bashi Channel and swept into southern Taiwan, the Central Weather Bureau said.
Moving at 15km/h, Conson was expected to stick to its north-northeast course and travel up the eastern half of Taiwan, the bureau said. The typhoon was expected to leave Taiwan by Thursday afternoon, forecasters said.
Flights and trains to the southeastern coastal city of Taitung were canceled, airlines and the railroad said. International flights were sticking to their original schedules.
Conson was named after a scenic site in northern Vietnam known for its streams and historical monuments.
Tropical storms and typhoons frequently hit Taiwan, triggering landslides and flash flooding that often cause severe damage on the mountainous and densely populated island of 23 million people.
