Typhoon Krovanh (12W)

#2 Postby senorpepr » Sat Aug 23, 2003 10:11 pm

Krovanh still progressing towards mainland China. Hainan Island is already feeling some of the weather from Krovanh. Here's a few noteworthy observations: At 2100Z, Zhanjiang reported lightning visible with a northeast wind at 6 knots. Also at 2100Z, Yaxion reported lightning visible. At 0000Z, Qionghai was reporting light rainshowers with a northwest wind at 6 knots. Maximum winds inside the typhoon, according to the JTWC, is 75 knots (86 mph) with gusts to 90 knots (104 mph).

On a side note, the China Meteorological Administration makes no mention of this typhoon. Maybe because it's not impact Beijing?. Nonetheless... here's the web address (it's in English) to the CMA: http://www.cma.gov.cn/ywwz/
