Re: ATL: ISAIAS - Hurricane - Discussion
The interactions that Isaias will have with the trof and the baroclinic forces are going to be very interesting and may potentially help it maintain some strength over land

Wow, definitely gone downhill quick here. Oak Island only had
voluntary evacuation. Betting some are regretting not leaving right now.

Texting with my brother whose in Sunset Beach. Around 10 pm (Eastern) he said the house was shaking a bit and it was feeling “spooky.” Water in the sound over the road from the island has cut them off from the mainland.

Plane's still going SW--are we not getting another pass through the stronger eastern eyewall before landfall?

Radar velocities indicate sustained hurricane force winds are now onshore.

I kind of expected this thing to crank into a high end cat 1 last night and it appears that's exactly what has happened.. Wishing everyone up there nothing but the best. Hang on and find solace in the fact this storm is on the move..

If I were the NHC, I'd go with 100 mph Cat 2 at 11pm. Those FLW are too strong. 117 kts at flight-level? Come on.

SFMR doesn’t support that. Someone mentioned earlier that the standard FL reduction may not apply here.

Radar indicated 138 mph winds 500 feet above the surface near Holden Beach. Embedded tornado?

How reliable is his instrumentation...? This seems way overdone.
