Large symmetric CDO is developing again, and don't forget this will be over the Gulf Stream soon.

What are the possibilities of this system obtaining extra-tropical characteristics as it heads towards the Northeastern US?

This thing is gonna plow into the eastern parts of NC as a possible cat 3 and really put a beating on areas east of I-95 and yet nobody is talking about anything but the NE. Gonna be an issue when people down south get a big time hurricane event and all the talk will be about the storm near NYC.

Looks like another pretty decent outer rainband approaching the Martin and Palm Beach County coastlines . . .

Starting to get a little concerned about the readiness status of Eastern North Carolina. NHC watches only cover the immediate ocean/soundfron counties. There has been a pretty severe lack of information coming out of MHX NWS office. the 2 local statements issued so far have really said nothing except "it is too early to predict the exact path and effects of the storm". A friend of mine in county government told me that the county went ahead with a state of emergency and evacuation declarations after receiving no real guidance from MHX. I see that they finally, this afternoon, started to mention higher winds for inland counties, but with rain forcast for tomorrow, I am wondering if they will have time to prepare. A lot of people will not start to take action until under some kind of watch or warning, no matter how much it gets hyped in the media.
As far as eastern NC goes, we better hope that the track shifts east and stays east, if not, our normally very conservative and quiet weather office here may have outdone itself on failing to sound the alarm to the people of eastern nc....again.

I agree with you! But NYC is WAY more populated and much more complacent/vulnerable. NCers like yourself are more used to hurricanes and better prepared.

I'm not a mod, but know they have their hands full right now.. Please provide a disclaimer when making landfall/intensity projections. We have a lot of new people here that may not be able to discern an official statement from someones opinion.. If its easier just put a disclaimer in your sig... Like Me :)

Looks like the eye went directly over Elbow Cay -- Hopetown. I've missed a lot of posts, has anyone seen a post from the Storm2Ker who was in Hopetown?

Aric in your opinion, what do you think this means? I too have been watching it drift around for the past hour and a half.

I'm on multiple forums/pages for Abacos and have not seen much out of Hopetown for a few hours. NHC position on center about two hours ago was: 26.5N 77.2W. I also heard relayed message from Cherokee Sound from about an hour ago... eye had passed and surge rising to above Floyd levels.
