I thought Ortt's post earlier was far to harsh. We will rescue anyone in need if conditions permit, period. This is what first responders and volunteers do. The time for recrimination is for later. Now its saving lives, period.

It is almost over water already. When you look at the shape of the coast it could be on water for a while.

Wilmington, NC, has gotten almost 10" of rain over the last 2 hours...there has got to be MAJOR street flooding. I hope Aric is at high ground. Highest 24-hr amount I can find here is 30.52 inches at Bogue Sound, on the NC coast. 30" already. Starting to wonder if someone might hit 50. I mean...30" of rain...there has got to be flooding. Problem is, a lot of these rivers won't crest for another day or two. The worst of this situation is likely still ahead of us.

If there's good news for Wilmington, it's that that dry slot might offer them a bit of a breather before the next 12+ hours of heavy rain.

Wow.

Incredible how it has been moving almost SSW during the last couple of hours, if it keeps moving this way it will be back over water in a couple of hours.

That's the same river where the friend of Dizzyfish was begged to evacuate, and did. I'm glad they got out. Dizzyfish, please let us know if you hear from your friends and how their neighbors are doing.

That forecast was issued at 8am. By 8am, there were places in that purple zone that had already recorded 20-30 inches of rain.

I'm betting the hundreds of USAR/SWR technicians brought in are going to be getting in a lot of work over the next 2-3 days.

The frictional effects of land may be the cause of the SSW movement. Once over water, it may move more westward skirting the coast of South Carolina.

Updated zoomed in radar loop. Perhaps just a cyclonic loop that it has been doing with half of the eye remaining offshore and getting reading to finally start move more inland soon.

Good Morning,

I saw that video. It made me cringe. Last night I posted a pic that she sent me showing water in the yards. I don't remember what page it was on. Anyway, as of this morning they are still at their son's home in Greenville and they have power. However, she told me that her neighborhood in Belhaven lost power about 9 last night. A neighbor told her they have approximately 3 feet of water in their garage but that it doesn't look like any is in their house.

Fingers crossed for them and for everyone else in the Carolinas. I fear what we hear later today and in the days to come.

Yeah...10" of rain in 2 hours is not a pretty site. Access is going to be hard...
