I can tell you I *didn't* find S2K in a Google search in 2004. Cape San Blas was in the path of Ivan and I was terrified for word of our beach house down there. The searches I used were "hurricane forums" "hurricane chat boards" and the like. I found one that I liked but there are a few folks there just too oppressive and opininated and so I don't go there much anymore. I do enjoy coming here and reading the Pro Mets and all the threads.

I must say this place is a bit intimidating too -- incredible traffic and some disagreements that frankly surprised me to see here. I think a lot of you were just bored and looking for a major storm. (If you ever want to get over your need for a Cat. ANYTHING ANYWHERE, again, I suggest you buy property on the coast. That'll cure you :D )

thanks for the board and the opportunity to see discussion. Worried to death about Dean. The D storm in '05 did us wrong big-time and then left the door open for his wicked little sisters.

Brent gave it to me when we were on the TWC board. So about 4-5 years ago.

I believe I found it on a google search. I opened the link, read some of the posts and then decided I had a few things to say myself. I've been hooked ever since.

Another person who used Google. I was waiting out Katrina at my mother-in-laws like this  waiting to see if we had a house to go back to. I probably searched with the name of the storm or just weather. I doubt I put forums in. Thanks so much for everything. I am watching closely. I don't always have much to say, but I am learning so much!

Like Derek we were all looking for a new home back then. We were promised a "troll free" board" and for 5 years now you guys have kept your word. That was back when the chat room had the same 7 or 8 people in there everyday and that was it.

I can't claim troll free as much as I would like to but they do tend to have a short life-expectancy around here ;-)

I was another one of the "lurkers". I was younger, but my family and I relied on the older veteran boards prior to 2003. Initially, I followed the GoPBI board for information, but I never posted there - when it got hectic, I "migrated" to this forum in 2003 and (mostly) 2004 via an online search. Finally, I listened to my gut and joined the forums in August 2005 (shortly before the season really ramped up). This forum far exceeds the others: it's largely free from the hostile atmosphere; there is an astounding assortment of information; and the exchange between great people (pro and amateur) is outstanding - it really aided my life!

I either did a search or stumbled in here when looking for information about hurricane Ivan. Great site.

Hmmmm. You know, I don't quite remember. This is my second incarnation on S2K, because I forgot the passcode for my handle the first time around. It might have been a Google search, but I doubt it. Most likely, it was a reference on another Wx forum, perhaps Hurricane Alley.

This board was recommended when the TWC board was taken over by trolls and many of the regulars began looking to go somewhere better! :D

I think I joined from info on the GOPBI site and have been here every since. I don't post a lot but enjoy hearing others thoughts on hurricanes and have learned a ton.

I found it in winter of 2002-3 via a search engine and bookmarked it for the upcoming hurricane season. Glad I did, it was really helpful during Charley and all the rest of those dadblasted storms that year and in subsequent years. I posted under a different name then but can't recall what it was. Forgot the handle one year so I reregistered.

It's been great to see this board improve every year and this year looks to be the best yet. I used to get frustrated with the people who would post emoticons with big eyes after every post and the crazy posters who thought every single storm was coming their way no matter where the forecast was. Good to see that you're cleaning up and keeping those people off the serious discussion forums.

Thanks, y'all. Hope everyone stays safe this year.
