Been one of my favorite OCM's for years, never breaks character, stays calm and professional even in the face of disaster.

I miss Kristina Abernathy......
I know that many people have mixed feelings on Jim Cantore, but he's still my favorite. I just love his passion for the weather. Some people can do a good job
at punching a clock and presenting the information, but they lack the passion for what they do. Jim has always had extreme passion when it comes to weather, which is why he seems dramatic many times, because he obviously loves the weather......

Does anyone also remember the OMC for the weather channel with the first name of Jill?
She was one of the originals and one for a few years, and she was also one of my favorites. I don't know what happened to Jill.

P.S. I liked Vivan Brown as well....

I only watch TWC when hurricanes are making landfall to see footage of the area affected.

I'll never forget the look on his face during Wilma's RI.

Always on the late shift, I went to sleep with him on my TV every night.

I miss the pairings of Jill Brown and Jim Cantore, along with a scheduled time for weather forecasts. Oh, those were the days.

  Must have made him an offer he couldn't refuse. The only thing I can find official about it is in their forums, but apparently this is for real and not something temporary.

I think a lot of us have that question! I'm wondering if his business with Max Mayfield isn't doing as well as expected.

His first name is Brian or Bryant? I ask because I had Bryant at title of thread at Talking tropics but I changed it to Brian.

So I dug up this thread when I realized Dave Schwartz had indeed returned to the weather channel.

It got me thinking, what ever happened to all the greats that got fired. I did some google stalking and came up with:

Rich Johnson: seems to be struggling to find work as an OCM anyhere besides podunk freelance. started his own tropical site which I have never heard of.

Dave Schwartz: hes back and used car salesman-y as ever. Apparently he took his 5 year hiatus to, wait for it...SELL SHOES. yes he worked at the Lennox Mall macy's...he claims for the bennies. Nice job getting back TWC though.

Bill Keneely: Is not your friendly Keller Williams real estate agent for the northen Atlanta suburbs. Another fall from grace...I always liked Bill, saf he is no long doing weather.

Nicole Mitchell and Ebony Deon: Doing weather for Aljazeera America

Jeannetta Jones: Apparently left long before the firings. Had a bad car accident. Sounds like TBI type issues, memory loss, etc. Not working now...this was in a link earlier in the thread.

Kristin Dodd: Doing communications for local Girl scouts

Kristina Abernathy: Communications director for Cobb County

Cheryl Lemke: broadcast OCM in Omaha

Jeff Morrow: staff meteorolgist in Nashville, WKRN...was in greenville.

So this all begs the question...is there life after weather channel stardom? I never dreamed these accomplished folks would ever have trouble finding work in Weather. I can only assume they all probably had their ties to Atlanta after all those years and that made leaving to find work difficult for many of them. Of maybe they were just over it. It would be super cool to buy a house with Bill though.

When I arrived in Cuba again I realized if you wish to pay plenty of money here you can actually watch The Weather Channel.

China launched its Weather Channel around 2010, but I think its programs and services are not as good as America's one.

Why?

I don't watch it for free.

As the saying goes, 'nothing to see here', modified to 'nothing to see there'.

Really ticked me off when DirecTV brought them back and Schwartz sold out to them. He was supposed to start his own operation with several others that was intended to rival his former employer. I'm guessing there was some behind the scenes shenannigans.

It is called DEEPER POCKETS than the new guy. Very sad because we need a viable option to TWC.
