From NASA regarding Debris

#1 Postby HeartofNC » Sat Feb 01, 2003 3:30 pm

NOTE TO PERSONS IN THE AREA: Anyone who believes they have found debris related to Columbia should call the Johnson Space Center Emergency Operations Center, (281)-483-3388. Be aware that hazardous chemicals may be present; do not disturb or move any debris.

All debris is United States Government property and is critical to the investigation of the shuttle accident. Any and all debris from the accident is to be left alone and reported to Government authorities. Unauthorized persons found in possession of accident debris will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

This is off of the NASA page... FYI

Hey Heart,

Thought I might add this.

I heard a news report this morning about a hospital in Eastern Texas treating people for respiratory disorders and burns, because they decided to try to collect some of the debris.

Please, if anyone finds anything, call the authorities, don't take it into your own hands.

Three peices of debris, thought to be components of flight data system, have been turned over to NASA. Also six different sites of human remains have been located. This had all be found in or near Nac. Texas. Hopefully this will help in finding the cause of this terrible tragedy

In times of tragedy it never fails that you see both the best and worst of man-kind. :D :x

Hundreds upon hundreds of people have stepped up to lend whatever assistance they can while a few idiots try and make a quick buck.
