No but then we don't have doppler radar to detect them anyway. We have the odd tornado warning from TORRO but it is very rare they get reported as they happen.

One person told me that the sirens should be rigged to where they play a heavy metal song when a TORNADO WARNING was issued, and when the warning expires or if the tornado goes past, they'll be playing "Here Comes The Sun" by The Beatles.

Nope none in Orlando. As I was reading other posts seems Florida does not have them at all anywhere. Seems like they would at least have them on the coasts since they tend to spawn off the water and move ashore sometimes. Maybe one day we will see them in this state, but not as of so far.

Yes, we have them in Fort Worth, and there is one two blocks away from my house.

Even though sirens are loud up close and on a clear day can be heard up to 3 miles away, during a storm with rain, wind, hail, the distance drops to 1 mile or less.

Although they're great to have in a tornado-prone community, their intention is to alert people who are outside. They should not be relied upon to alert you in your home, particularly if you're asleep, as many folks around here found out 2 months ago. Only that handy, dandy NOAA radio will.

No tornado sirens in Philly, thought when I was grwoing up they would test the air raid sirens every Friday at noon. I work at a military base in NJ and they have the infamous giant voice that they always seem to be testing...gets on your nerves.
