The Weekend View!

#1 Postby Miss Mary » Sat Nov 26, 2005 4:21 pm

Maybe I'm a day late, a dollar short again.....but I just saw TWC's 'new' Weekend View this morning. Did a "whoa" too! To see 3 OCM's sitting down, on a couch, with a coffee table and seeing a female OCM's knees, well.....let's just say it felt like TWC meets the Twilight Zone to me.

It just seemed out of place, way too much talking, this or that, holiday shopping, travel and then Kelly Cass walked over to the green board (always thought it was blue?) to present the current wx.

And all I could think of was the morning talk show called the View! I swear, but I expected to see Barbara Walters show up!

Comments anyone?

Well, I'll tell you, I got the distinct impression Bill Keneely felt uncomfortable....he had to say "Team Keneely" has already started their holiday shopping. He sure looked like he would have rather been out in the field, covering a blizzard than sitting on a couch.

Just wait until you do see it. They show behind the scenes, when OCM's walk over to the blue/green screen.

And TWC thinks this IS what we want.....sigh.

LOL, Mary, it's true - Bill Keneely has that look of a well-
trained pup that would rather run amuck in the neighborhood,
if given the chance!

Most stations use green anymore. Green causes less of a problem with the chromakey than blue. It's easier to light up (blue tends to absorb some of the light allowing for a less uniform look or the need for more lightning) plus there is less green clothing than blue. Or at least that's what I'm told...

It's been like that for over 3 weeks now........"Too MUCH FLUFF!" I mean, when there is severe weather they STILL show STORM SToRIES over and over and over and over!

See right there, 3 weeks now.....geez, I've been watching network TV a bit too much huh? LOL I suspected this set and new look had been around for a while. I just can't believe TWC thinks this is the way to go. But this new stategy doesn't surprise me either.

senorpepr - thanks for the explanation on the screen color.

My opinion of The Weekend View: BLEAH!

Bill does seem out of place there - very uncomfortable. He also needs a new wardrobe person. Those outfits have got to go.

The show seems like so much filler material. It's like lite beer. Less filling, Less satisfying. It's weather-lite.

I turn it on in the mornings while I'm still waking up. Clicking the remote is easier than getting up and getting on the computer.

All in all, very HO HUM.

Poor Bill. Suck with three females. The show has too much fluff just like the View on ABC. Can it and get back to the weather......MGC

Sad it is, when TWC borrows the "Fox & Friends" format...it won't work with a wx site.

OK...the least that they could do is have them huddled around a pot belly stove.

And I wonder what our longtime friend Jackie (Raine) would have to say about her fav OCM Bill Keneely in that situation?

Perhaps the next step is to invite guests on to discuss their latest movies or politics..and ask them to present the next weather segment.

Soft touch...too soft for even an old weather geezer like me!

Steve! Steve! Steve!

I swear you read my mind, or we think alike. As I watched Bill sitting there on the couch with several females, I thought immediately of Jackie. My next thought - wouldn't it be nice if they had guests sit in, i.e. fans of TWC or specific OCM's? We could have Jackie sit with Bill........Thundercat sit with Sharon.......let's see who else, Cantore's fan(s) sit in.....I know I wouldn't be alone on that couch.....he he. And then the couch would tip over from all of Kristina's fans!!!! Guess we'd better not go there......but seriously, I thought of Jackie iimmediately. And when she sees these Weekend View segments with her fave Bill, she will email or PM one of us. How much you wanna bet she has a comment about that? LOL

It's been on for alittle while and I don't care for it.

It is, IMHO, modelled after "The View". What are they going to do next, interview of different stars?

Ed - you're right - more filler, less taste. Heaven forbid they should stick with what they are supposed to be discussing like weather.

Well did you know there is supposed to be a comedian doing the weather or something with Dave Scwartz?

Here is the link: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/9972099/

It is the beginning of the end.

Garrett - you said it. Sigh.....the time seems beyond ripe for another weather channel to premiere and be just like TWC used to be, doesn't it?

They should have a juggler come in to give a forecast while juggling.

A ventriloquist, with the dummy doing the forecast.

A set with tropical plants and animals for the tropical forecast.

When they do the international forecast bring in Charo to talk about the forecast for Brazil and South America.

Choochey choochey.
