Central West Coast- New Port Richey - just above Tampa/St. Pete.

Nice breeze here right now. Seeing some towering clouds to my NE - expect they might pay me a visit later. Sure hoping for some rain and that is all I hope for!

Ya'll watch yourselves on the east coast!

Ruskin just issued one.

I just stepped outside and it is very eerie out to the east with N to NE winds gusting to 20 mph here in Boca Raton.

huh???

Local NWS offices do not issue tornado watches. Where did you get that??

FLOOD WATCH
Issue Date: 245 PM EDT TUE SEP 18 2007
Expiration: 1200 PM EDT WED SEP 19 2007

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MELBOURNE HAS ISSUED A
* FLOOD WATCH FOR COASTAL VOLUSIA AND BREVARD COUNTIES.
* THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING
* ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS ARE BECOMING FAVORABLE FOR A NARROW
BAND...OR BANDS...OF INTENSE RAINFALL TO DEVELOP OVER THE
ATLANTIC AND IMPACT PORTIONS OF THE EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA
COASTLINE. ALTHOUGH MUCH UNCERTAINTY EXISTS AS TO THE EXACT
LOCATION OF ANY RAIN BANDS...AT THIS TIME COMMUNITIES IN COASTAL
VOLUSIA AND BREVARD COUNTIES APPEAR TO HAVE THE BEST CHANCE OF
SEEING A PERIOD OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WITH FLOODING THROUGH
WEDNESDAY MORNING. WHILE MANY COMMUNITIES WILL EXPERIENCE A
PERIOD OF HEAVY RAIN...A FEW COMMUNITIES ARE EXPECTED TO RECEIVE
A PROLONGED AND INTENSE RAINFALL ACCUMULATING OVER 3 INCHES IN
LOCALIZED AREAS.
* DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY. IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS...ABANDON IT AND SEEK
HIGHER GROUND. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER
TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS.
A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED
ON CURRENT FORECASTS...BUT IS NOT A CERTAINTY.
YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
$$

As far as the tornado watch you speak of Gatorcane.. I dont see that anywhere

Fox13Weather its NOT tornado watch but a special weather statement. I apologize I mispoke on this.

Note that I expect Tornado watches to be issued for the peninsula at some point.

Winds picking up in North Palm Beach, but still sunny. Ominous dark blue to the east off the coast.

well, I wish it would quit raining up here in NE FL...already over 7 inches, and the near-tropical bands of rain keep curving in.

so much for golf in the am.

Key Largo: Breezy. Storms clusters over extreme SW peninsula. In the clear here for now. I just started seeing what was going on.

Turnpike/595/SR84 at 12:15-1:30 saw on/off heavy "tropical-style" rain with some lightning. It was definitely different than our typical afternoon t-storms, as the raindrops were very fine and small, as opposed to the giant drops of a seabreeze t-storm. Also had a definite persistent wind from the north about 10kt at that time.
My wife who works in Pompano (95/atlantic) reports the same, but about 15 minutes earlier.
After that, the rain has basically stopped, but towering spooky fast moving clouds remain to the east. Sample/Turnpike at 4:30-5:00 had brisk northeast to northerly wind est (no gauge) sustained 10-15 kt, mostly cloudy skies, its remained that way for a couple hours now.
