The end of a wild, wild storm. I just hope and pray that damage continues to be minimal due to hitting sparsely populated areas.
I've been holding up from doing this, but I can resist no more. Dean, yeah, you're pretty likely to get it after this season's over. Good riddance.
Godspeed be with the victims and the families of this hurricane, and may we do all we can to help clean the damage.

If Mexico doesn't request retirement, Jamaica will.
First retired name of the 2007 season, and hopefully also the last.

convection already firing up in the Pacific ahead of the blob. There seems to be still a broad area of circulation with remnants of Dean

Hey would it be possible for anyone to give me a forecast on how much rain we are going to get here in Puerto Vallarta?
It's been raining since 8:30PM and there's no signs of letting up, quite a few parts are starting to flood. Could I get an educated guess on rain totals here?
Thanks.

Hey I hope that we get a couple of weeks just to catch our collective breath before the next system!

Heck I've got a 3 week break in Sept to watch hurricanes. I can stay up all night in watch and enjoy.
Hopefully dean redevelops once into the eastern Pacific.

It depends... given that the EPac is mostly free of land, it'd be fun to continue tracking Gil (its LLCC hasn't survived the trek over Mexico, so it'd be renamed)... but if it moves up the Golfo de California as the GFDL and a few other models were progging... Mexico would end up getting a third hit.
We can all dream about a cat 5 CPac fishie like Ioke I suppose...

My gosh, the flooding is the real part of this hurricane, it's been constantly raining heavily all night and all I can say is I'm happy I live on a hill, we've had 12 hours of constant moderate to extremely heavy rain at times, and I can only sympathize for the people in the interior of Mexico and the Veracruz area...wow.
