TWO 530:

THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE LOCATED ABOUT MIDWAY BETWEEN
AFRICA AND THE LESSER ANTILLES REMAINS POORLY ORGANIZED...AND
DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM IS BECOMING LESS LIKELY.

FORECASTER FRANKLIN

When people were getting their hopes up for a cyclone, Franklin says "less likely."

As of now though, I see there being three possibilities with 98L's future path...

1.) The system is not affected by the trough to the north and moves through the Caribbean. (tied with #2 as the most likely scenario)

2.) The system is influenced by the trough slightly, but then is pushed back west by the ridge and heads toward FL or the FL straights. (tied with #1 as the most likely scenario)

3.) The system is heavily influenced by the trough and either heads toward the east coast, Bermuda or out to sea. (least likely scenario)

EWG i agree i would'nt want to see another Rita type set up. Anyway Dr. Masters thinks 98L could develop.

I'm having second thoughts on development now. There's a wave behind it from Africa and 99L might affect it somehow.

This MIMIC Total Precipitable Water loop gives an interesting perspective:

http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/tropic/real-time/tpw/mainTPW.html

It appears to have been hit from behind by a major area of dry air.

PS: Take a look at that moist area of cyclonic turning just leaving the Cape Verdes.
