Flight AF302 01GGA INVEST has started hdob messages already. Leaving earlier then scheduled?

File for GoogleEarth will be available, including detailed data when clicking on a icon: http://wxgr.nl/?weer_recon.htm

I think they lefted early because it takes more then a hour to get out there. If you think it has to be there by 2pm. That is 4 hours from now,,,The LLC is at 71.5 west, they are at 88 west. So that is 16.5 degrees from storm...The caribbean recon started out near 61 west and had to go intill 80 west...That is around 18-20 degree's by the last few recon missions into Felix. It would take 3 to 4 hours to get to Felix on these missions...So I don't know if they are leaving early, I think they are leaving to make it to the storm.

Wouldn't it have been quicker to fly from St. Croix? Maybe the planes aren't there though...

The distance they would have to fly north probably wouldn't differ much.

Indeed, using Google Earth and the fix position of 29.5N 74.0W, distance from Keesler is about 100 statute miles shorter than distance from St. Croix.

For the GE file: older links won't work anymore, because the data files are on another server now.
Just use the link provided on the recon page on my site, it will always contain the correct url for the latest flight:

Did it stop updating? 1514Z is the last report...

Thanks for doing this, BTW, it's just incredible what can be done these days (I'm blown away by the overlays).

Data file on server is up-to-date, so there should be no problem.
