Because '83 and '89 didn't have a Noel (not enough storms), and the last two were nothing storms, right? I believe there was a TS Noel in 1995, and a far north Hurricane in 2001, right?

LOL

Not sure. Easy mistake to make, a LOT of storms in 95 took similar paths to Noel (95's).

But most of them (strike maybe Karen, which didn't go in the same direction) were also hurricanes. Whatever, I AM only a tropical low (for now...) Does anyone have a reference on any kind of damage in the Maritimes?

My brief summary about NOEL is that it was a deadly one thru all almost its path (No deaths so far known in Bahamas,New England and Eastern Canada). The name NOEL has a good chance to be retired. Another thing that NOEL did was to increase the ace for the 2007 season.Maybe in post anaylisis report they find out that it was warm core for a longer period than what it was.

Note=This thread will remain in this forum for the members to make post NOEL comments even though the last advisory was written on sunday from the Canada Hurricane Centre. In 2 days the thread will be moved to the archives of 2007.

One thing I think is that it was warm core all the way to Atlantic Canada...and actually hit them as a Category 1 (maybe 2) hurricane...

I think the NHC has a habit of declaring a storm ET way too soon.

Well, it's certainly possible, but I think it didn't retain enough characteristics (core was too cold, etc.) to be considered a hurricane. Might happen though; it was suggested by several prominent forecasters. And the strength, I think, was that (somewhere in the storm) of a hurricane.

Nah, it had a very obvious front. Totally ET.

You're probably right, but it didn't last long.

Didnt recon find a cold core on the last flight they performed? I thought I recalled one of the pro mets saying something about that?

They did, but interestingly enough, the front faded away and the the CHC claims there was later a warm core. I think, however, that whatever tropical-ness it may have had (most likely none), it was most certainly an ET.
