A Cyclone WARNING is current for coastal and island communities from Mitchell
Plateau in Western Australia to Daly River Mouth in the Northern Territory.

A Cyclone WATCH is current for coastal and island communities from Daly River
Mouth to Goulburn Island, including Darwin and the Tiwi Islands.

At 9:30 pm CST [9:00 pm WDT] a Tropical Low was estimated to be
145 kilometres north northwest of Wyndham and
390 kilometres west southwest of Darwin and
moving west southwest at 4 kilometres per hour.

The low remains slow moving and may develop into a TROPICAL CYCLONE later
tonight or tomorrow morning, before moving eastward towards the Top End of the
Northern Territory.

GALES could affect coastal and island communities between Mitchell Plateau in
Western Australia and Daly River Mouth in the Northern Territory later tonight
or early Friday morning.

If the system were to take a more northeast track, there is the possibility that
GALES could affect coastal and island communities between Daly River Mouth and
Goulburn Island, including Darwin and the Tiwi Islands late on Friday or on
Saturday.

Heavy rain is expected to cause flooding in the north Kimberley region tonight
and tomorrow.

385 kilometres west southwest of Darwin and
moving north northwest at 7 kilometres per hour.

The low remains slow moving and may develop into a TROPICAL CYCLONE this
morning, before moving eastward toward the Top End of the Northern Territory.

GALES could affect coastal and island communities between Mitchell Plateau in
Western Australia and Daly River Mouth in the Northern Territory this morning.

If the system were to take a more northeast track, there is the possibility that
GALES could affect coastal and island communities between Daly River Mouth and

AND INTO THE JOSEPH BONAPARTE GULF. ALSO, A 031442Z TRMM 85 GHZ
MICROWAVE PASS SHOWS CONVECTIVE BANDING WRAPPING INTO THE
LLCC. THE UPPER LEVEL ENVIRONMENT IS FAVORABLE FOR FURTHER DEVELO-
PMENT WITH ANTICYCLONIC TURNING SUPERIMPOSED OVER THE SURFACE
CIRCULATION. THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE, WHICH HAD BEEN THE PREVIOUS
WESTWARD STEERING INFLUENCE HAS SINCE WEAKENED DUE TO AN ADVANCING

At 6:30 am CST [6:00 am WDT] a Tropical Low was estimated to be
205 kilometres north northwest of Wyndham and
380 kilometres west southwest of Darwin and
moving north at 10 kilometres per hour.

The low has moved to the north and may develop into a TROPICAL CYCLONE later
this morning. It is likely to move eastward during today toward the Top End of
the Northern Territory.

the Timor Sea approximately

TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING

TROPICAL CYCLONE ADVICE NUMBER 10
Issued by the BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY, DARWIN
at 2:00 pm CST [1:30 pm WDT] Friday 4 January 2008

A Cyclone WARNING is current for coastal and island communities from Kalumburu
in Western Australia to Cape Hotham in the Northern Territory, including Darwin.

A Cyclone WATCH is current for coastal and island communities from Cape Hotham
to Goulburn Island, including the Tiwi Islands.

At 12:30 pm CST [12:00 pm WDT] Tropical Cyclone Helen, Category 1 was estimated
to be
230 kilometres west northwest of Daly River and
265 kilometres west southwest of Darwin and
moving east northeast at 20 kilometres per hour.

The cyclone is expected to cross the coast between Darwin and Daly River Mouth
late tonight or early tomorrow.

GALES with gusts to 100 kilometres per hour could affect coastal and island
communities in the north Kimberley and western Top End during today.

DESTRUCTIVE WINDS with gusts to 130 kilometres per hour could affect coastal and
island communities between Darwin and Daly River Mouth tonight or early
tomorrow.

If the system were to take a more northeast and slower track, there is the
possibility that GALES could affect coastal and island communities between Cape
Hotham and Goulburn Island, including the Tiwi Islands during Saturday.

Heavy rain is expected to cause flooding in the north Kimberley region and the
Top End.

TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING

TROPICAL CYCLONE ADVICE NUMBER 12
Issued by the BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY, DARWIN
at 8:00 pm CST Friday 4 January 2008

A Cyclone WARNING is current for coastal and island communities from Port Keats
to Cape Hotham, including Darwin and the Tiwi Islands.

A Cyclone WATCH is current for coastal and island communities from Elcho Island
to Numbulwar, including Nhulunbuy and Groote Eylandt.

At 6:30 pm CST Tropical Cyclone Helen, Category 2 was estimated to be
95 kilometres west of Daly River Mouth and
185 kilometres west southwest of Darwin and
moving east at 15 kilometres per hour.

The cyclone is expected to cross the coast near Daly River Mouth in the next few
hours. Tropical Cyclone Helen is expected to weaken below cyclone intensity over
land tomorrow, but may continue to move east and redevelop in the Gulf of
Carpentaria on Sunday.

DESTRUCTIVE WINDS with gusts to 130 kilometres per hour are expected to affect
coastal and island communities between Darwin and Daly River Mouth in the next
few hours.

GALES with gusts to 100 kilometres per hour are currently being experienced on
parts of the coast between Darwin and Port Keats, and may extend to Cape Hotham
and the Tiwi Islands later tonight. These conditions are expected to continue
for the next 6 to 12 hours.

GALES with gusts to 100 kilometers per hour may affect coastal and island
communities between Elcho Island and Numbulwar, including Nhulunbuy and Groote
Eylandt, on Sunday if the system redevelops in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Heavy rain is expected to cause flooding over the Top End.

i've been listening in for the last half hour, kinda exciting.
Darwin Airport is still open, but many airlines have delayed their flights, including Quantas Airlnes.
