Thanks for the kind words. There's actually a white bird of paradise on the far end of the upper pond. I'll try and get some updated pictures soon since it's grown a lot since those were taken. It's around 12 feet now and bloomed for the first time last year. As to the koi and my lillies, that's the very reason I added the upper pond I try and keep lillies in both ponds but when the koi tear up a lillie I move it to the other pond for recuperation

I don't have any vines but my latest sickness is Desert Roses. I think they're unusual and yet very pretty.I have about 4 varities now and always looking to add more.

I'ma get into trouble now >> I helped my parents build their (very) small pond in the back yard for our turtle, and I love how nice it is...looking at yours finally (yay) now once I settle down, I wanna build a pond. I wonder if the army would get mad at me if I built one outside my room LOL!

I'll warn you it can become a sickness. It's kind of like owning a boat, you always want to do "just one more thing" and the next thing you know there goes another $500-$1000.

re your Desert Rose: Chris, who owns Buried Treasures: http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/2462/ , has an amazing selection and good prices. He lives down your way and is really good.....I note he has a recent negative and neutral rating but I know his site got a nasty virus that he *just* had cleaned up recently. He sent me a Desert Rose and oh the travels that plant, and a few others , made to get over the border (by car a phyto isn't needed for tropicals to be brought into Canada).

I kinda figured you might have a white BOP.....do you have Orchids??? There's one particular one a Floridian member posted that was spectacular (it had a different look and was covered with blooms) .... she also loved it's ease of care. If I remember its' name I'll post it.

Be warned......I can really enable someone's sickness.

That first picture is what we call a Desert Rose. We have one that got hit pretty hard with the freeze last year but its recovering nicely. We also gave them out for mothers day one year and our great aunts it huge now. Just lovely at the beginning of spring, where there isn't many leaves just all blooms. Heres a not so great shot of ours a few years back.







So hows the pond looking these days Marshal? Should have filled in quite nicley over the past year.

OTown your desert rose is beautiful!!!! My desert rose I had for 9 years got frozen this past winter It's weird cause it got froze before and always came back but this time was it.
