What is with all these Earthquakes!!

I felt the quake here about 50 miles SW of the epicenter. I thought a car had run into the building at first because it was a very sudden and loud shake (lasting only a few seconds), but after looking outside and realizing no car had hit I determined it must have been an earthquake. Luckily we were far enough removed from the epicenter to receive any kind of damage.

wow another one... is a sad euphemisma. My prayers for all countries, islands facing the assaults of these unpredictables quakes It's awesome, hope that things will calm down a bit, that's seems unrealistic right now!

It does rather feel like one of those disaster movies right now, with several disasters happening in a row, though to be fair 4.4 isn't too dangerous, still bet it will give some people a surprise!

Yeah it does, but I think this one in OK is larger than the other one felt in January.

Not to sound pesimistic but I am worried about the New Madrid fault located in the central part of the U.S. that may turn active in the future.

They've been saying that for the longest time Luis. However, with all of the other plates moving and shifting, I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

The January Oklahoma earth quake caught my attention as I noted there one could draw an imaginary line from similar quakes in S. California, then Oklahoma, then Illinois, almost where I wondered if there would be a NE one soon too, but it didn't happen. Plus it was mere co-incidence, not plate tectonics which allowed the imaginary line. I'm sorry though for the good folks of Oklahoma who have experience two jolts in a month or so.

In the aftermath of the magnitude 7.8, April 18 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, the largest horizontal surface fault displacement ever recorded was measured at 21 feet (six and a half meters) at Point Reyes, CA.. The San Andreas Fault is 810 miles long. The point I'm trying to make is while the SA fault line is long, there is only one greatest displacement ever measured on it in modern time.

While there have been a lot of recent earthquakes around the world, and while no geologist, it's hard to connect these quakes with one another even besides their thousands of miles of distance: a continental transform San Andreas fault zone, the subduction zone quakes involving Chile and Okinawa, and the famed Pacific "Ring of Fire".

Maybe a forum geologist will weight in on this matter soon, as surely I am just a WLD.

There was a small one in NW New Jersey this week, just over 2.0.

The Oklahoma quake magnitude was revised down to a 4.1 as of this evening.
