A 5.3 quake occured a little after noon AST north of San Juan,but nothing occured here.

There was a 5.2 quake in the Leeward Islands that was felt by many,however,no fatalities occured.

Even an earthquake near Saint-Barthélémy

A major earthquake - magnitude 5.4 on the Richter scale - was recorded today at 0840, learn a communiqué of the Observatory. The epicenter of this earthquake of tectonic origin was located 64 km to the southwest of Saint-Barthélémy, 159 km depth. This earthquake, given its depth reached only (rarely felt) intensity of II, or III (weakly felt).
This event follows on two other earthquakes occurred recently in the same area. January 20, an important earthquake of magnitude 5 on Richter scale of tectonic origin, had been registered at 23 h 37. Its epicentre was located 72 km south of Saint-Barthélemy, 150 km depth. Previously, January 5, a low 3.6 on the Richter scale magnitude earthquake was recorded at 5 h 53. The epicentre was located 25 km north/northeast of Saint-Barthélemy, 15 km from depth.

EARTHQUAKE REPORTED IN WINDWARD ISLANDS
Fri Feb 4 2011

At 8:16am Eastern Caribbean Time, an earthquake registered 5.2 occurred, centered near 11.3N 62.2W about 60 miles SW of Grenada, or 70 miles NW of Trinidad, it was located well north of the Paria Peninsula in Trinidad. The depth was about 107 miles, and was felt widely across Trinidad, Tobago, Grenada, St Vincent, Barbados and Venezuela.

No damage reported on any of the islands.

Graphic of epicenter of this quake.It was very deep and that is why no reports of damage occured.

There was a 4.4 quake that occured Friday morning near the island of Dominica.But no reports of damage.

There was a 4.0 quake near the SW coast of Puerto Rico.No reports of damage.

A 3.8 quake occured this afternoon just north of Puerto Rico. No damage occured,but plenty of people felt it, including me.

There was a 5.4 quake between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.There are no reports of damage nor Tsunami.

Pretty active days in the Caribbean plate, a couple of days ago it was in the subduction zone between it and the Cocos plate and now in the Eastern Caribbean. Hopefully they are only normal events and not foreshocks.

For the peeps who may not know this,the Puerto Rico/Virgin islands and Leewards is one of the most active areas of seismic activity around the world.Fortunally,most of the quakes are small,but also many have been moderate to sometimes strong.There is the Puerto Rican Trench just north of PR where the deepest part of the Atlantic is,there is the Mona channel fault and there is the Sombrero fault in the Virgin islands area.

Seismic activity since 1990 to present.
