I heard on CNN that the damage in Crescent City, CA was "worse than in 1964", but I haven't seen anything about it so ???? The damage in 1964 was pretty substantial, at least along waterfront, iirc. That tsunami was caused by the Anchorage Palm Sunday earthquake. I believe it was a 6 foot wave.

:uarrow: I think it's normal given the very high magnitude of the erthquake, I can only imagine how difficult must be for them to be calmed.

Folks, look at all the aftershocks since the 8.9. The red boxes represent the recent strong ones.

9.20pm GMT: More unsettling news from the Fukushima No 1 nuclear power reactor in Onahama: the plant's operator Tepco says that radiation "could have already been released" from the damaged reactor, while Japan's prime minister Naoto Kan is saying that residents within 10km of the plant must leave the area.

Kan was set to visit the plant this morning.

Previously, the area of three kilometres around the reactor had been evacuated, while those within 10km were told to stay indoors
