Unbelievable! It's aproaching the 2004 Asian tsunami death toll with the difference that the tsunami deaths were registered in several countries and these earthquake's deaths are reproted only in one small country :eek:

212,000 is around 2% of Haiti's total population.

212,000 is around 2% of Haiti's total population.

This statistic probably what is the most incredible about this disaster. Measuring the % of the population that lost their lives is one way to weigh the level of catastrophe and this one is near off the charts folks. I remember doing the same after Cyclone Nargis in May of 2008 and only around <0.002% of Myanmar's total population was gone.
