7.0 earthquake in OKINAWA; Strongest since 1909

omg wow DID IT JUST SHAKE HERE!! News said it was a 7.3! No damage that I see but is is 530 am so I see nothing. That was crazy!!

:eek: Are you o.k? Yikes that must have been a jolt. How long did you feel shaking? Maybe you're evacuated due to the sunami warning.

Fwiw, USGS downgraded to 7.0, but hey I'm feeling for Japan and keeping fingers crossed.

ORIGIN TIME - 2031Z 26 FEB 2010
COORDINATES - 26.1 NORTH 128.5 EAST
DEPTH - 29 KM
LOCATION - RYUKYU ISLANDS JAPAN
MAGNITUDE - 7.3

EVALUATION

NO DESTRUCTIVE WIDESPREAD TSUNAMI THREAT EXISTS BASED ON
HISTORICAL EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI DATA.

HOWEVER - EARTHQUAKES OF THIS SIZE SOMETIMES GENERATE LOCAL
TSUNAMIS THAT CAN BE DESTRUCTIVE ALONG COASTS LOCATED WITHIN
A HUNDRED KILOMETERS OF THE EARTHQUAKE EPICENTER. AUTHORITIES
IN THE REGION OF THE EPICENTER SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS
POSSIBILITY AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION.

THIS WILL BE THE ONLY BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS EVENT UNLESS
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE.

THE JAPAN METEOROLOGICAL AGENCY MAY ALSO ISSUE TSUNAMI MESSAGES
FOR THIS EVENT TO COUNTRIES IN THE NORTHWEST PACIFIC AND SOUTH

Looks like the whole Pacific plate is seeing some sort of shift occur, all the built up pressure along the plate boundaries just going off one after another it seems.

Had another 5.3 Aftershock here. However none have been really felt. I felt one last night had to be about a 3 but barely felt it. Nothing that bad though.
