Apr. 4, 2010 - "On 4/4/2010 10:40:39 PM UTC an earthquake of magnitude 6.9 and depth 32.3km has struck an highly populated area in the Baja California Province (population: 1.8 million) in Mexico. GDACS estimates the likelihood for need of international humanitarian intervention to be medium (Orange alert).

This earthquake can have a medium humanitarian impact since the affected region is highly populated and has high resilience for natural disasters.

The earthquake 66km from the city of Mexicali. The nearest populated places are Coyote (15km), Alberto Oviedo (9km), Puerto Asufre (11km), Durango (17km). It is a mountainous region with a maximum altitude of 2043 m.

Potentially affected People

The population in the area of this earthquake if 22 people/km².

The earthquake occurred at 14h local time. At this time a day, more people are at work and therefore more vulnerable to collapsing office buildings. During traffic hours, people can be affected by collapsing bridges and other road infrastructure."

I suppose in many ways its lucky it didn't occur a little to the west where the population density is somewhat higher.

As you can see it felt like a violent to extreme shaking near the epicenter.

I am 2 blocked in a big way. I don't have time to check it out. I would like to know how far is the nearest low pressure in kilometers?

Chalk yet another earthquake event for 2010 that affected a good number of people. The main worry with this one is could this set off the "big one" in California similar to a fore-shock. I doubt it but you never know.

There are videos of swimming pools sloshing water around all over the place which is unusual because I don't recall other events that got very much footage of that type of thing. There has already been more then a few shown.
