This earthquake occurred deeper in the earth than the tragic Boxing Day 2004 event. So sorry for the Sumatrans, they must be terribly frightened.

I must admit, I'm wondering a bit about all these earth wide quakes too. So many, and quite a few so seismically large.

Funny enough, I was just looking at the wiki article on the Baja earthquake less than two days ago and then at the bottom where the 2010 earthquakes are listed in the earthquake template box, there was 7.8 (now 7.7??) listed for Sumatra. By now we should be ahead of schedule I would think with this many occurring (quite strong ones) so close together. This is like the 2nd strongest of 2010 thus far.
