Felt it here at the OU Campus. A little damage and some broken class here on campus. It shook pretty hard this morning. Quite the experience!

Wow! So unexpected in the flatland of gumbo mud/clay soils.. I know the history but, it's still funky..

Today's earthquake was only the second I have ever felt. The first was ironically also in Oklahoma earlier this year. Compared to that one though, this was much stronger and more of your "classic" minor/moderate earthquake. I could feel the ground trembling and jolting beneath my feet for several seconds with this one, and it was enough to bend some of my hanging picture frames. Pretty wild stuff for this part of the world!

They differ slightly from the USGS and are calling the quake a magnitude 4.7.

So let's see, I leave Norman after a generally tranquil six years, and it proceeds to immediately have blizzards, tornadoes, floods, and sensible earthquakes. What a coincidence.
