Earth reached perihelion today and is 3 million miles closer to the Sun then in July. Can you tell? :cold:

We are now moving away from the Sun until July.

When you're 93 billion miles away, 3 million miles is nothing!

Although I have felt a closer attraction for the Sun today! Weird!! lol

That would be nothing. But the Earth is about 93 million (91.5 today) from the sun.

Is it always closest in January and farthest away in July?

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

Yeah. However the angle of the sun has a much bigger impact on temp then being a few million miles closer. In June the sun is highest in the sky and that means the solar energy is more direct therefore its warmer in June then January.
