Global cloud cover increased 16% year over year. It is down from last month, still more than last year. October will be the telltale for whether this upward cloud cover trend continues.

The water vapor trend for this study is moving sideways this month. There is less land along the circles of latitude south of the equator, so maybe the value of the area of thicker water vapor will tick up.

This is one of the more unusual locations for the New Moon pass. The Earth Moon distance at the New Moon is increasing along with the global earth quake frequency.

Global water vapor has leveled off from last month, but still 47.3 above the bottom of the cycle.

Happy New Year. This is the fourth year of this data collection comparing the latitude of the moon with the change in global water vapor, and the New Moon Phase position with the global earthquake frequency.

This month the moon is over a relatively cool water area of the South Pacific, across Australia. The transition of the sub-point from water to land sometimes increases the earthquake frequency. There are a lot of fault lines and volcanoes in this area. The last few months the earthquake frequency has been higher as the earth-moon distance increases. The elongation ended last month.

The January New Moon global water vapor count took a dip in January 2018, but that happens 75% of the time. The year over year water vapor coverage increase was 2 times last months amount and the overall climb of the water vapor count is around 40%. There does not seem to be any indication that the cloud cover growth is tapering off.

The February 2018 New Moon Phase is over the South Pacific just west of the Galapagos Islands. This is deep water with a warm surface. It is unusual that the entire phase is over water. The land crossing is Peru a very geologically active area.

The growth of global water vapor continues to stay in a channel. GOES East is down so a portion of the nodata field in filled in by the nearest methodology.

This is a 5 page PowerPoint slide show with 5 seconds between pages.

In the past there was a correlation between the Earth/Moon distance and global earthquake frequency. For the last 3 years that hypothesis didn't hold. Gravity is a static force, the force sums as planetary bodies line up. Coincidentally the midpoint of the lower quartile of the plot of earthquake frequencies at the new moon was at the conjunction with Jupiter in September 2016. The database is only a few years old Jupiter's orbit is 12 years, a lunar epoch is 19 years, a 2 year exception could be part of the thing.

The March New Moon passes over southern Africa. Sea surface temperatures are warm. Just after the New Moon the the lunar sub point crosses a geological active area. The average global earthquake count at this earth moon distance is 285.

This is the first month since January that the year over year plot of New Moon Global Water Vapor has been flat.

This is the plot of the April New Moon path. Headed for a run in with Central America. Plowing through some warm water there is a good chance that evaporation levels will tick up this month.

The total New Moon Water Vapor is still moving sideways. It is a fraction lower year over year, and up 4 percent more than last month since the Super EL NINO. There is still 4 more years in up swing in the moons latitude. There are 2 possible limiting factors on the expansion of water vapor from this point. First the amount of great circle land mass at more northern latitudes, and second the water is cooler as the New Moon's latitude reaches it's northern most swing.

This might be the month that the latitude of the moon is just to high to continue the growth of global water vapor. Much of the New Moon's Path is moving across dry land. There is a geologic active area in the path. The New Moon is approaching perigee. Historically a close approach of the moon limits global earthquake frequency.

This months plot of the global water vapor seems to indicate a leveling off of the growth of water vapor since the last El Nino.
This is a 10% higher level than last year, entering into hurricane season.

June's Moon Path pass across some geologically active regions this month. The Caribbean is cooler than the last pass across this area in August 2017, but the East Pacific is warmer.

There has been a increase in the frequency of earthquakes over the last 9 months October 2017 to June 2018. The earthquake count of magnitude 5 and above is constant. This is unprecedented over my 4 year database.
