Tropical Cyclone Alert: Tropical Depression DINDO
Issued at 11:00 p.m., Thursday, 15 April 2008 The active low pressure areas East of Northern Luzon has developed into a Tropical Depression and was named "DINDO"
Location of Center: (as of 8:00 p.m.) 540 kms East Northeast of Basco, Batanes
Coordinates: 21.3°N, 127.3°E
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center
Movement: Northeast at 30 kph
Forecast Positions / Outlook:
Thursday evening: 1,150 kms Northeast of Basco, Batanes
No Public Storm Warning Signals Raised
Tropical Depression "COSME" and "DINDO" will enhance the southwest monsoon and bring rains over Luzon and Western Visayas. Residents in low lying areas and near mountain slopes are advised to take all the necessary precautions against possible flash floods and landslides.
Residents in coastal areas of Luzon and Western Visayas are alerted against big wave generated by this tropical cylcone.
The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM tomorrow.

昨天位于菲律宾吕宋岛东北部洋面的热带低压于昨天晚上加强成为今年第3号热带风暴“麦德姆”(MATMO),今天上午8时风暴中心位于我国台湾省花莲以东大约850公里的西北太平洋洋面上,就是北纬24.2度、东经129.9度,中心附近最大风力有8级(20米/秒)。
预计,风暴中心将以每小时35公里左右的速度向东北偏东方向快速移动,将逐渐变性为温带气旋。对我国近海影响不大。
The tropical depression previously located to the northeast of Philippines has intensified to TS 0803 Matmo last night. At 8pm Beijing Time, it is centered some 850 kilometres east of Hua-lien City, Taiwan Province, China. i.e. 24.2N 129.9E, the maximum sustained winds are 8 bft (20m/s)
The storm is expected to move east-northeastward rapidly at a speed of 35km/h, gradually becoming extratropical. It should not severely affect Chinese seas.
