Yeah I can certainly see it becoming a hurricane now. It should remain just far enough to spare the Northeast coast but could be a big issue for Atlantic Canada.

Could Cristóbal make a comeback? We will have to see.

IMO if it rounds that high pressure and holds together while staying tropical it could be a US threat 2 weeks from now, maybe. I just hope it comes back and makes landfall in NC as a weak systems and gives us widespread rain.

Yeah it looking good now, under the gulf stream I suspect that with an increase in gfoward speed we may see this get close, if not upto hurricane strength afterall!

It may do a loop, also become a hurricane. So this one is worth watching.

Yep I think Matt this has got a real good chance of becoming a hurricane, as it happens a fair few system do seem to get to hurricane that take this sort of track over the gulf stream.

The last one to attempt that giant loop was Danny in 2003 interestingly, also in July.

Where could it possibly go if it does a loop? Would it round the periphery of the high and head back W toward the US?

Not the NHC nor the computer models are expecting it to survive. Danny didn't do it. But if it survives, and the system becomes tropical again, then the US has to watch out because it will be moving westward. Now, don't put much into it.

CrazyC83, that does look a little suspect, got to adit I wouldn't be all that surprised if that actually is an eye to be honest given the deep convection its had over it recently.

Yep those cloud tops are very impressive, overshooting tops even. Also thats starting to take on the same sort of curve that a hurricane would have so I think it is indeed strengthening slowly and may well make it to hurricane strength in the next 18hrs.
